Check Warren Correctional Institution Releases

To find someone released from Warren Correctional Institution, use North Carolina's state correctional records rather than a county jail roster. A person may leave this prison through discharge, parole, or post-release supervision, or may move to another prison and remain confined. The correct release check pairs the actual release date with inmate status, supervision status, location, and last movement. Projected dates describe what may happen later. Facility contact and a state public-records request provide fallback routes when the online offender detail is unclear.

Warren Correctional Release Paths

Warren Correctional Institution is a men's state prison operated by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. A community departure may be an unconditional discharge, legacy parole, or release to post-release supervision. Parole is discretionary early release tied mainly to older sentencing law. Post-release supervision is the required community portion after many modern felony prison terms. In both supervised paths, prison confinement has ended while NCDAC authority continues.

Movement to a different NCDAC prison is a transfer. It is not release. Read the person's Current or Previous Location, Last Movement and Date, Inmate Status, Probation/Parole/Post Release Status, and sentence fields together. An active supervision office paired with “POST RELEASE/PAROLE” points to community supervision. A new institution as the current location points to continued incarceration. The Warren County released inmate lookup provides separate routes for the county jail, state prison, federal system, and ICE.

Warren Release Record Fields

NCDAC's detailed public record provides a sentence chronology instead of one universal release certificate. It can show offender number, inmate and community statuses, office, admission, locations, movement, conviction county and docket, minimum and maximum terms, punishment type, parole dates, projected release, and actual release. The dedicated Inmate Release Search adds release date and type of release to its results.

Use an actual date with a compatible status as the stronger release marker. The Projected Release Date can move because it is calculated before the event. A sentence may also include a prison release followed by post-release supervision, so the actual prison exit does not always equal the end of all correctional authority.

Actual Release Date
The date NCDAC records the prison release event.
Projected Release Date
A forecast that may change before release.
Inmate Status
The person's prison or post-release classification at the time shown.
Supervision Status
Whether probation, parole, or post-release supervision remains active.
Last Movement
The most recent transfer, admission, release, or other recorded movement.

Warren Monthly Release Search

NCDAC also maintains a monthly Inmate Release Search. It can be filtered by county, year, and month, or by a complete or partial surname. Warren is county code 93. Results include offender number, name, release date, primary offense with a qualifier, and type of release. The offender-number link opens the fuller record.

This is an NCDAC list, not a Warren County Detention Center feed and not a rolling 24-hour or 72-hour view. On the research date, the visible form offered the current and prior two calendar years. An older state release may still appear in general OPI even after it leaves the monthly selector. When a result is recent, confirm it through the full detail because a county filter does not replace status and movement review.

The monthly list covers state correctional releases. It does not list everyone who leaves the Warren County jail.

Request Warren Prison Records

If the public detail is incomplete or fields conflict, use the NCDAC public-records channel. Specify the offender name and number, date range, admission date, actual release date, sentence and release fields, and any existing offender image being requested. NCDAC handles state prison and community-supervision records. It does not hold the local detention center file.

Basic conviction, time served, sentence length, admission, and release dates are often public. Detailed central and supervision files can be confidential under G.S. 148-74, G.S. 148-76, and other law. NCDAC says simple requests may take days, while complex or redacted requests can take weeks or months. Electronic copies are generally supplied when available. The response can explain what is public, confidential, unavailable, or subject to redaction.

Warren Prison Contact Details

The official Warren Correctional Institution page lists the physical address as 379 Collins Road, Manson, NC 27553. Mail goes to P.O. Box 728, Norlina, NC 27563. The telephone number is 252-598-5400. The institution can answer facility questions, but the statewide offender record and NCDAC records staff are better channels for a documented release history.

Call with a clear facility question. Do not assume the institution will provide confidential case details or calculate a future date by phone. If the inquiry concerns post-release supervision, use the office displayed on the offender's live record rather than sending the person back to the prison.

Warren Institution Release History

Warren Correctional Institution opened in 1997 and consolidated five smaller prisons in surrounding counties. Official history says medium-custody intake began on August 18, 1997. A 168-single-cell building opened on May 18, 1998, two modular dormitories opened in August 1999 for about 88 minimum-custody people, and another 168-cell building was completed in August 2004. The history helps explain why a person linked to Warren County can have a state-prison record rather than a county-jail trail.

The current official page contains a conflict that should not be smoothed away. Its metadata labels the institution medium/minimum custody with capacity 672, while its narrative refers to close custody and capacity 809. Those figures describe facility material, not a release count, and neither resolves a person's current status. Use the offender record for that task.

The page confirms the prison's identity and history while also showing why custody and capacity labels must not substitute for person-level release data.

Warren Projected and Actual Dates

North Carolina Structured Sentencing requires service of the minimum term, with earned time able to reduce the maximum toward that minimum. The Commission explains the shorthand as 100 percent of the minimum and at least 85 percent of the maximum. The exact Projected Release Date shown by OPI reflects the sentence and credits known to NCDAC. It can change with earned-time gain or loss, sentence corrections, court orders, detainers, and other case events.

A future date is never a completed Warren Correctional Institution release. On or after that date, refresh the record and look for Actual Release Date, a compatible status, and a movement or location that makes sense. NC SAVAN can provide projected-date and release-event alerts for a matching state record, but the actual offender detail remains the stronger public chronology. If the fields conflict, ask NCDAC records to clarify public release basics.

When active supervision follows the prison exit, the OPI record's displayed office should control the contact path. Warren County is within Community Supervision Judicial District 9, but the district's Louisburg contact is not proof that every Warren supervisee reports there. The North Carolina Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission sets post-release conditions and handles legacy parole matters. Its public contact is 919-716-3010 and Parole.Commission@dac.nc.gov. The Commission does not conduct conventional formal parole hearings. For older parole-eligible cases, its monthly discretionary-review reports provide results, while OPI supplies the later release event and active office.

Note: Prison release to active supervision ends confinement but not all correctional control; unconditional discharge is a different status.
